NEWSLETTER    Vol 19, 12/2004

Hello,

Here I am pondering over the keyboard struggling to get the creative juices flowing and I slowly realize December has arrived and this will be our last newsletter for 2004.

We have been busy lately with familiarisation visits to the Whitsundays in Queensland with thanks to Jetstar and the southern highlands of New South Wales which gave us the opportunity to experience excellent hospitality and see first hand many different and unique venues.

Our thanks to all who attended our October breakfast featuring Queensland as a conference and meeting destination. Congratulations to the lucky draw winners who will experience some of those Queensland venues in the coming months. We will continue to host the educational breakfasts in 2005 along with our hosted overnight site inspections of venues. If you would like an invitation just drop me an email.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the folk at the conference centres, hotels, resorts and venues right across Australia and New Zealand who have helped and assisted us with our newsletter, promotional giveaways, hosted inspections and especially looked after our clients so well during their stays.

It is at this time of year we take a festive break to spend time with family and friends and enjoy some time away from the office. However our office will be open all the way through the holiday period and the next edition of our newsletter will be on its way to you in February 2005.

On behalf of the team here at Key Conference Solutions I wish you all the best for the festive season and many happy times spent with family and friends.

Regards,

Jim Conway

Whitsundays Prosail

While you're conferencing in the Whitsundays consider sailing on Prosail's genuine America 's Cup Yachts " Australia " and "Steak 'N Kidney"

Prosail's America 's Cup Challenge is an activity which in the past has been reserved for only the most elite professional yachtsperson. This exercise has now been tailored and expanded to allow lucky, less-qualified participants the thrill of taking part in a "mock" challenge in the beautiful waters of the Whitsundays.

The experience begins when you are picked up from your accommodation house and taken to the yachts. Here you will be greeted by your racing crews and taken through a thorough safety and race briefing. The two yachts and the start boat will depart to the race course where both yachts will hoist sails and then undertake a brief trial run before Race 1 begins.

Next, the 5 minute gun goes and this is when the experience really starts to heat up with both yachts commencing their circling manoeuvre in preparation for the start. The gun sounds again and the race is on!

One full lap of a replica America's Cup course including the use of spinnakers on the down wind run (weather permitting) and then to the finish line. You then rest for a short time and catch your breath before Race 2 begins.

In both races guests can be involved in the racing, calling tactics, grinding and even protesting an offending yacht! Programs can be tailored to meet your specific requirements.

HAPPENINGS

Congratulations Neale Price

It has taken us some time to catch up with Neale Price Game Development Manager - Cricket Victoria who was the lucky 1,000 th subscriber to our newsletter.

Yes,  it was some months ago we ticked over the magic number and Neale was happy to see us when we dropped in a small thank you gift before the cricket season took off.

Work is underway on a $12 million upgrade of Rotorua Airport facilities. The runway is being extended, arrival and departure hall capacity increased, and aircraft parking, security and customs facilities improved. Work is due for completion by December 2005. We might then see some movement towards direct flights from Australia to Rotorua.

The Westin Melbourne has won the prestigious "Best Overall Hotel" Award at the 2004 Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Awards for Excellence. The hotel industry's most coveted award winners were announced last month from 180 nation wide finalists. The "Best Overall Hotel Award", an open award category for any establishment throughout Australia - is judged on all aspects of a hotel's operations and guest experience.

At the recent AHA Victorian Awards for Excellence winners included “Best Resort Accommodation” which went to One Four Nelson on Rye Beach, “Best Accommodation Restaurant Food Outlet” awarded to Royce Hotel Melbourne and “Best Accommodation Menu & Wine List”  to the Vue Grand Hotel, Queenscliff.

Conferences, meetings and corporate golf days are now available at The Sands Torquay one of Victoria 's premier coastal golf resorts. The modern facilities of the club house can cater for a small board meeting of 10 to a large cocktail function for 800 guests.

New Virus - Just got this in from an “old” and reliable source.
It seems there is a virus called the "Senile Virus" that even the most advanced programs of Norton and McAfee cannot take care of it, so be warned.

1.Causes you to forget to attach attachments.
2.Causes you to send the same e-mail twice.
3.Causes you to send blank e-mail.
4.Causes you to send e-mail to the wrong person.
5.Causes you to send e-mail back to the person who sent it to you.
6.Causes you to hit "SEND" before you've finished the e-mail.

The virus appears to badly affect those of us who were born before 1955!
